Wagonflow 4 is the first version specifically for the Windows platform. It was a simple port using the Delphi language and it doesn’t look so good on the larger screens many of you now have. Some users have reported problems with larger screens but most can be resolved by setting a lower resolution as mentioned in System Requirements.
I have started the process of rewriting Wagonflow in Java so that it will be able to run on any platform that supports the Java Runtime Environment (JRE), such as Linux, Mac OS, etc, as well as Windows. My development is being done on a Windows platform and tested on a Linux Mint platform. However, this isn’t going to happen overnight, there is a lot of work to do and I will post occasional updates here on progress. The new version will improve the look and feel of the software and it will then make life easier for the program’s future development. I intend that it will seamlessly import all of your Wagonflow 4 files so you won᾿t have to re-enter any data or settings.
To whet your appetite, this is what the opening menu currently looks like. This is an actual-size image and it is intended to stay near the top-left of the screen whilst the program is running. | ![]() |

All of Wagonflow’s tables (data files) can be edited through the Edit Tables option on the Task Picker menu bar. There are 16 tables divided across three tabs, for Infrastructure, Rolling Stock, and Traffic Profiles. This shows the Infrastructure tab. The fourth tab allows existing users to import Flow4 files. Every screen will have a context hints button. |
My development work is being done on a Windows 10 machine and I have successfully installed and run it on a laptop running Linux Mint Cinnamon Edition. I don’t have access to a MacOS machine and I have failed to find a way to run on an Android tablet.
There will be a discounted upgrade path from Wagonflow 4 when the new version becomes available.
